Pointe Carangue - Cousteau Reserve

Pointe Carangue has that classic Cousteau Reserve feel, but with a bit more punch than some of the busier spots. We love the way the reef here just rolls gently down, creating these lovely shelves and overhangs that are perfect for poking around. Keep an eye out for our favourite resident, the Ocean Triggerfish – they’re always a lively presence, darting between the corals. You’ll also spot plenty of Parrotfish munching away, leaving those tell-tale trails in their wake. What really makes Pointe Carangue a standout is the sheer number of smaller, shyer creatures you can find if you take your time. Look for the Spiny Brittle Stars tucked into crevices, their arms waving gently in the surge. We’ve had some fantastic encounters here with schools of Round Scad shimmering in the blue, and once, a curious Keeltail Needlefish hovered right by us for ages. It’s a site that rewards patience, offering a genuine sense of discovery rather than just big, flashy stuff. Dive it slow, let your eyes adjust, and you’ll be amazed at what emerges from the reef.
