Double Wreck - St. Kitts

The Double Wreck off St. Kitts is a fascinating spot, especially if you’re into a bit of history with your dive. It’s not just one wreck, but two older vessels, a tugboat and a barge, that settled side-by-side on the sandy bottom at 19 metres. What we love about this site is how the wrecks have completely transformed, becoming less about the original ships and more about the incredible artificial reef they’ve created. Swimming between the two, you’ll find yourself navigating through schools of snapper and grunt, often so thick they make the ambient light shimmer. Our favourite part is exploring the nooks and crannies within the tugboat’s structure; it’s practically a lobster apartment complex in there, and we often spot nurse sharks tucked away beneath the larger sections. While the structures themselves are well-broken down, the sheer volume of fish and the opportunity for some gentle penetration – if you’re comfortable and properly trained – makes this an excellent intermediate dive. It's a great choice for photographers too, offering plenty of macro subjects on the encrusted metal, alongside those dramatic wide-angle shots of schooling fish.
