Teigland - St. Kitts

Teigland is one of those St. Kitts sites we always try to hit, especially if we’re looking for a relaxed, easy dive with plenty to hold our attention. It’s got a lovely, gradual slope, making it perfect for an extended bottom time without too much depth anxiety. We often find ourselves just finning slowly, letting our eyes adjust to the details. What we really love about Teigland is the way it encourages you to slow down. It's not about big pelagics here, though we’ve certainly seen turtles gliding past. Instead, it’s all about the nooks and crannies. Keep an eye out for those Bigeye Stargazers – they’re masters of camouflage, burying themselves in the sand with just their eyes poking out. You’ll spot Molly Millers darting amongst the coral, and the French Grunts always seem to be schooling in impressive numbers, their yellow stripes a flash against the blue. The Elkhorn coral formations here are particularly healthy, providing excellent habitat for juvenile fish. We always suggest taking your time over the sand patches too; that’s where you’re more likely to spot a Little post horn squid doing its quirky dance. If you’re into macro and don’t mind a gentle pace, Teigland is a brilliant way to spend an hour underwater.
