With 192+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, dolphins, lemon sharks, nurse sharks and sea turtles - Tortuga Canyons offers some of Ambergris Caye's richest diving. Water ranges 27-31°C, warmest August, September, October.
Tortuga Canyons offers a series of swim-throughs and shallow channels on the reef just off Ambergris Caye. You'll navigate coral formations, looking for nurse sharks resting under ledges or rays gliding through the sand patches. It’s a good spot for newer divers, with depths generally staying around 12 to 15 metres and usually mild currents. The canyons provide some interesting topography for exploration.
