Bikini Bottom - Roatán

Diamond Cay is one of those Roatán sites we just adore for an easy, rewarding drift. You drop in near a small cay, then let the current carry you along a narrow coral ridge. It’s perfect for divers who love to just float and watch the show. Look out for the resident flamefish darting in and out of the crevices, and we’ve often spotted pygmy filefish camouflaged against the gorgonians. The reef here slopes gently to about 22m, bordered by wide sand channels that make a lovely contrast to the coral. Keep an eye on the sandy patches for sleeper gobies and the occasional milk conch ploughing along. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light filtering through the water really makes the reds and oranges of the sponges pop. The black coral colony at 24m is impressive, but for sheer colour, we love the huge common sea fans further south. You’ll experience a relaxed drift, observing everything from tiny surge clingfish to cruising barracuda, making it a great choice for a second dive of the day.
