Native Sons - Roatán
Native Sons in West End, Roatán, is one of those places you walk into and immediately feel at home. The team, headed by founders of the Roatán Marine Park, have this relaxed, deeply knowledgeable vibe that we really appreciate. You can tell they live and breathe these reefs. We love diving with them because they often go out to less busy spots, especially for morning dives. One morning, we found ourselves drifting over a wall at Half Moon Bay, just us and a school of bigeye trevally swirling past. It was incredibly peaceful. They’re PADI through and through, offering everything from your first breath underwater to Divemaster. If you’re looking to get certified, especially if you’re keen on understanding the local ecosystem, these are your people. Their conservation roots mean briefings aren't just about safety, but about what you’re seeing and how to protect it. Our favourite dives with them are always the ones where their guides point out the tiny things – a camouflaged decorator crab, or a nudibranch tucked into a crevice – stuff you’d swim right past otherwise. For anyone serious about diving Roatán’s unique environment, and wanting to learn more about its preservation, Native Sons is an easy choice.
