LEWROSE - Roatán

Lewrose is a proper wreck dive, no doubt about it. We love a ship that still looks like a ship, and at 64 metres long, she holds her shape really well despite being down since '83. Dropping onto her deck at around 20 metres, you can still make out the superstructure, the railings, even the remains of the wheelhouse. It’s not just a pile of metal; you can spend a good hour exploring the exterior, imagining her final moments after taking on water en route from Kingston. For those with the right training, there are some penetration opportunities into the cargo holds – just remember to go with someone who knows the layout and to stay well within your limits. Outside, the growth is fantastic. Big barrel sponges cling to the hull, and we’ve seen schools of snapper and grunts hanging out in the darker sections. Keep an eye out for a Goliath grouper or two, they often cruise the deeper parts of the wreck. It's a dive that rewards multiple visits, revealing new details each time the light hits differently. A great pick for experienced wreck enthusiasts.
