With 168+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, orcas, sea turtles, whale sharks and pufferfish - Spooky Channel offers some of Roatán's richest drift diving. Water ranges 27-30°C, warmest August, September, October.
Spooky Channel on Roatán’s north side is a unique trench cut through the reef. It’s a narrow passage, sometimes feeling a bit enclosed, but the light plays interestingly off the walls as you drift through. You’ll often spot nurse sharks tucked away and plenty of schooling fish. It’s a pretty easy drift dive, good for divers who enjoy reef formations and a slightly different vibe than the usual wall.
Safety Notes
Drift dive - carry a surface marker buoy (SMB) and stay with your group. Brief the current direction before entry.
