Yellowtail Reef - Corn Islands
Yellowtail Reef sits shallow, usually between 5 and 15 metres, making it an easy entry for newer divers or those looking for a relaxed afternoon. We generally find a good population of the yellowtail snapper the site is named for, often schooling over the coral heads. Look for plenty of hogfish and various butterflyfish picking their way across the reef, and if you’re patient, a chain moray might pop its head out from a crevice. The corals here, like boulder brain and mustard hill, offer a decent backdrop without being spectacular, but the easy conditions and the occasional turtle make it a pleasant, straightforward dive in the Corn Islands.
