Faille d'Arue - Moorea & Tahiti

There’s something about a good swim-through that just feels right, and Faille d’Arue delivers. It’s a crack in the reef, a deep cut that you can navigate, feeling the cool water swirl around you as you pass through. We love that slight squeeze, the way the light filters in from either end, making the water inside glow a fantastic blue. It’s not just a hole in the wall, either. Keep an eye out for the smaller inhabitants here. We’ve seen Lettered Mitres tucked into crevices and Porous Cowries clinging to the rock. Humphead Unicornfish and Blue-lined Surgeonfish often cruise by the entrances, catching the slight current. It’s a perfect spot if you appreciate the architecture of the reef as much as the fish life. The dive is fairly straightforward, making it a good choice for newer divers looking for that thrill of passing through a natural tunnel. Go early in the morning for the best light.
