Dive Terry's
Izu Peninsula, Japan
The team at Dive Terry's are proper pros, and honestly, we love them. It’s a PADI 5 Star IDC, so you know the training is top-notch, but what really sets them apart is the vibe. They’ve been around since '86, so there’s a quiet confidence to their operation. This isn't a factory. We'd suggest them particularly for divers looking to genuinely level up their skills, or for those new to Japanese diving who want a really solid, welcoming introduction. They’re based in Hamamatsu City, a good launchpad for exploring the Izu Peninsula’s many dive spots. Our favourite thing about Dive Terry's? They really know their local sites. They’re not just taking you to the easy spots; they’re showing you the good stuff. Expect a focus on safety, sure, but also on getting you comfortable enough to really appreciate the finer details of the reef. Think nudibranchs tucked into rocky crevices, schools of amberjack moving like quicksilver, and the occasional grumpy moray eel peeking out. They even have a heated pool, which is a godsend for chilly skill sessions or getting comfortable with new gear before hitting the open water. It’s a small detail, but it makes a huge difference. If you're after genuine dive education and a friendly, experienced crew, Dive Terry’s is a fantastic choice.
