The team at Nereus Dive Center are pure diving enthusiasts. They run a tight ship, perfect if you’re looking to properly level up your PADI certs in Taiwan, right through to instructor development. We love how well they know the local Northeast Coast sites, always ready with a suggestion based on the day's conditions, and they’ve got that solid, experienced instructor vibe that puts you at ease. Nereus is our pick for serious PADI training, but also for getting to grips with Taiwan’s unique temperate diving. They’re based right there, meaning quick access to some of our favourite local spots – think Dragon Cave for its surprising soft coral walls, or the occasional green turtle cruising past. We’ve had some fantastic dives with them, spotting nudibranchs no bigger than a grain of rice and watching schools of yellowtail scad glimmer in the sun. A practical tip: ask them about their favourite macro spots; they always know where the little critters are hiding. They keep things professional but always with a laugh, which is exactly what you want when you’re pushing yourself to learn something new.
