Why dive here
Pontinha is a reef dive where divers can encounter dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales, ocean sunfish (mola mola) and orcas. Water ranges 22-28°C, warmest August, September, October.
Pontinha offers a straightforward dive, often used for training or a relaxed second tank. We usually see plenty of smaller reef fish here, parrotfish grazing, and a few moray eels tucked into crevices. It's a gentle introduction to Sal's diving, especially good for newer divers or those who prefer a calmer pace. Expect sand and scattered rock formations rather than dramatic coral.
