ATD Conte Max and Duke of York - North Malé Atoll
The team at ATD Conte Max and Duke of York aren't just running a PADI 5 Star outfit, they're orchestrating full-blown Maldivian dive expeditions. We love their liveaboard focus; it’s the only way to genuinely experience the Atolls, letting you chase the best conditions rather than being tied to a single house reef. If you're serious about seeing the Maldives' bigger residents – think mantas gliding through cleaning stations or grey reef sharks patrolling thilas – this is your ticket. Hopping between the Conte Max and Duke of York means you’re always where the action is. We’ve had incredible luck with mantas at Lankan Manta Point on outgoing tides, sometimes so many you don’t know which way to look. There's a real thrill in waking up, stepping onto the deck, and knowing you’re already perfectly positioned for the morning’s first dive. Early morning channel dives are our favourite, dropping in just as the current picks up; the sheer volume of fish can be astounding, with schools of fusiliers so thick they block the light. Just be ready for some serious drift. It's a proper adventure, less about luxury and more about getting wet, often, and in all the right places.
