Saw whale shark on 26m depth only once here - Rasdhoo Atoll

Alright, "Saw whale shark on 26m depth only once here" – that's a mouthful for a dive site name, but it tells you something. We're not promising whale sharks every Tuesday, or even every year, but it did happen. This isn't Rasdhoo’s marquee drift, rather a smaller, more intimate reef. What we love here is the sheer density of everyday reef fish. Drop down to the sand patch at 26 metres, keep an eye out for a passing eagle ray, but then just take your time drifting back up. The coral formations, particularly the staghorns, create a maze of hidey-holes for blennies and cardinalfish. We’ve spent a solid fifteen minutes watching a Bicolor Blenny dart in and out of a small coral head, completely oblivious to us. The light plays beautifully through the shallower sections, catching the iridescent scales of schools of parrotfish. It’s a gentle dive, perfect for photographers wanting to slow down and really observe the smaller stuff without being swept along. Visibility is generally excellent, and the current is usually mild, making it a good second dive of the day.
