With 45+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blacktip reef sharks, blue sharks, sea turtles and whale sharks - Alimatha Jetty offers some of Vaavu Atoll's richest reef diving. Water ranges 29-31°C, warmest April, May, June.
Alimatha Jetty is a shallow night dive, usually under the pier lights, that attracts a regular crowd of nurse sharks. They're drawn in by the scraps from the resort, making for an active, if slightly artificial, encounter. You'll often see stingrays here too. It's an easy dive, perfect for photographers wanting predictable shark shots or those newer to night diving looking for some excitement.
