Le Tombant - Saint-Gilles & West Coast

Le Tombant is our go-to when we want a bit of drama. It’s a proper wall dive, starting around 18 metres and just dropping away into the big blue. We love drifting along the edge, sometimes with a gentle push, sometimes with a noticeable tug, watching the thermoclines ripple. Down deeper, from about 30 metres, the wall becomes a tapestry of sea fans, their delicate branches swaying with the current. This is where you really feel the scale of the Indian Ocean. We’ve had some fantastic encounters here – often seeing reef sharks patrolling the deeper sections, and if you keep an eye out into the blue, dorado often cruise past. It's a site that demands your attention and definitely suits advanced divers comfortable with depth and potential currents. For us, it’s the thrill of the unexpected that keeps us coming back.
