With 511+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blacktip reef sharks, blue sharks, dolphins and eagle rays - Pierre aux Platax offers some of Saint-Gilles & West Coast's richest diving. Water ranges 25-29°C, warmest January, February, March.
Pierre aux Platax, off Saint-Gilles, is a solid intermediate dive. It's an easy drift over a rocky bottom, mostly around 18 metres. As the name suggests, you'll find plenty of batfish here, often hovering curiously close. We've seen them in decent-sized schools, which makes for a nice photo op against the volcanic rock. It’s a good choice when the currents elsewhere are a bit too feisty, offering a relaxed dive without compromising on marine life.
