Plongée Salée, off Saint-Gilles on Réunion’s west coast, has a way of surprising you. We’ve found it’s a good spot for a relaxed drift, often with a gentle current pushing you along a sloping reef. Keep an eye out for charming hermit crabs scuttling over the substrate and schools of greenfish flitting around the staghorn corals. It's a solid choice for a second dive of the day, or if you're looking for something less demanding than some of Réunion's more exposed sites. While we haven't personally spotted the melon-headed whales here, the chance is always there, and that alone makes it worth a look.
