ILE DENIS - Inner Islands

Okay, let's talk about the Ile Denis wreck. This isn't one of those purpose-sunk playgrounds, it's a proper historical piece, and we love that. She went down back in 1980 after some engine room trouble, a fishing vessel built in '61, and now she rests at 43 metres. Descending, you can really feel the depth here, the light changing around 30 metres as you approach the hull. What you'll find is a wreck that's become a home. The superstructure is heavily broken down, but the bow and stern sections are still distinct. We've spent dives just slowly circling, tracing her original lines, imagining her working life. It's not about penetration anymore, it's about appreciation for her history and the new life she supports. Look for the schooling snappers that often shimmer around the deck, their scales catching the ambient light. We've seen some impressive groupers lurking in the shadows, too, wise old fish that clearly know a good shelter when they find one. This dive suits experienced divers comfortable with deeper profiles and drift potential, those who prefer history and atmosphere over intact structures.
