LAVANN - Inner Islands

Lavann is one of those sites we always enjoy for a relaxed second dive. It’s an old fuel barge, intentionally sunk, now sitting upright on a sandy bottom at a neat 10 metres. There’s no big drama here, no challenging currents, just a solid, accessible wreck that’s perfect for extending your bottom time and working on your buoyancy. What we love about Lavann is how quickly it’s become a home. The hull is thick with soft corals, swaying gently, and a closer look reveals a world of nudibranchs and flatworms clinging to the metalwork. We’ve spotted moray eels peeking from the darker corners and schools of snapper circling overhead, sometimes so dense they filter the sunlight. You can swim through the open cargo holds, which offers a nice sense of exploration without any tight squeezes. Our favourite spot is usually around the bow, where the light hits just right, illuminating parrotfish nibbling at the growth. It’s a great site for photographers wanting to practice wide-angle shots without feeling rushed, and it’s brilliant for newer wreck divers too. Keep an eye out for the resident lionfish, often perched regally on the highest points of the superstructure.
