Twin Barges Wreck - Inner Islands

The Twin Barges Wreck in the Inner Islands is one of our favourite dive sites, especially if you’re looking for something a bit different from the granite reefs. These two old barges, sunk deliberately, now sit upright and offer a really satisfying wreck dive. What we love most is how the metal structure has become a home for so much life. You’ll descend onto a hull draped in soft corals, their colours popping even on an overcast day. Schools of yellow snappers often cloud the decks, and we’ve spent ages just watching them swirl. Inside, where light filters through the gaps, you can usually spot a few curious lionfish tucked into corners. It’s not a huge wreck, so you can explore both barges thoroughly in one dive, poking around the holds and superstructure. Look for the resident moray eels peeking out from pipes. This site is great for experienced divers who appreciate the intricacies of a well-colonised artificial reef, and it's generally quite sheltered, making for a relaxed exploration.
