Why dive here
With 91+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue whales, giant moray eels, humpback whales, orcas and sea turtles - Lagoon Reef offers some of Hikkaduwa & South Coast's richest reef diving. Water ranges 28-31°C, warmest March, April, May.
Lagoon Reef sits just off Hikkaduwa’s coast, a shallow coral patch that’s a good introduction to the area. It’s mostly hard corals, nothing too dramatic, but you’ll often find reef fish milling about. Good for a relaxed second dive or for newer divers getting their fins wet. Expect calm conditions most of the time.
