Why dive here
With 91+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue whales, giant moray eels, humpback whales, orcas and sea turtles - Y-Gala offers some of Hikkaduwa & South Coast's richest diving. Water ranges 28-31°C, warmest March, April, May.
The Y-Gala site offers a straightforward dive, generally calm and good for newer divers building confidence. You’ll typically see schooling reef fish, moray eels peering from crevices, and the occasional turtle gliding past. It's a pleasant spot for a relaxed exploration rather than a hunt for big pelagics. We find it a solid choice when you want an easy morning out.
