TGI - Zanzibar & Pemba
The team at TGI are proper pros. We’ve spent some serious time diving with them out of their Emerald Resort base, and they consistently deliver well-organised trips. They really shine on the Mnemba Atoll runs, knowing exactly when and where to drop you for the best chances of spotting those reef sharks cruising along the wall. What we love about TGI is their relaxed, yet utterly professional, approach. Dive briefings are thorough without being stuffy, and their local dive guides have an uncanny knack for finding the smaller stuff hidden amongst the corals – think peacock mantis shrimp or those tiny Durban dancing shrimp. Our favourite tip from them? Go for the early morning dives at Mnemba. The light is softer, and the currents often calmer, making for a much more comfortable drift along the outer reefs, where we’ve often seen big Napoleon wrasse come in close. The boat rides out are usually smooth, but be prepared for a bit of chop on the way back if the wind picks up in the afternoon. They run PADI courses from open water up, but where they really excel is showing certified divers the best of Zanzibar’s reefs.
