GULTEN ISLAMOGLU - Vlora

The Gulten Islamoglu, a carrier vessel, sits upright at 55 metres, surprisingly intact considering its rapid sinking in 1994. We love how well-preserved it is, a proper deep dive that still offers plenty of exploration. Dropping down, the sheer scale hits you; 75 metres of steel, with its bow pointing slightly upwards. What makes this wreck special? Its cargo holds are wide open, letting you peek inside without feeling squeezed. We’ve spotted large schools of barracuda hanging around the superstructure, almost like they’re still guarding the ship. Keep an eye out for conger eels too; they’ve made homes in the deeper sections of the engine room. This isn't a beginner’s dive, with its depth, but for experienced wreck divers, it’s a genuine highlight in Vlora. The calmest conditions for descent are usually in the morning before any afternoon breeze picks up.
