OLIMPIA MADRE - Vlora
The Olimpia Madre isn't your typical deep, dark wreck dive. We’re talking about a fishing vessel, sunk in a storm back in '74, now resting in just two meters of water right off Vlora. That shallow depth is what makes it so special. We love how the light plays on the broken timbers, illuminating every nook and cranny. You can spend ages exploring the remains, spotting shy octopus tucked into crevices and schools of juvenile fish darting through the rusted hull. It's a fantastic site for photographers, especially macro enthusiasts, given the abundance of smaller creatures. We'd suggest going on a calm day for the best visibility, as any chop can stir things up a bit. It’s also our pick for a relaxed second dive or a tranquil introduction to wreck diving. Don't expect dramatic drop-offs, but do expect to feel completely immersed in a piece of maritime history.
