SANTA AMELIA - Kornati Islands

The Santa Amelia wreck in the Kornati Islands is a proper piece of history lying on the seabed. She’s a carrier vessel, around 100 meters long, and sits upright at a maximum depth of 29 meters. We found her to be a nice, relaxed dive, with the wreck itself offering plenty of nooks and crannies to peer into. You can swim over the cargo holds, where schooling fish often congregate, or explore the bridge area. While not a coral reef, the wreck has become an artificial reef, attracting various Mediterranean species, from inquisitive scorpionfish to small nudibranchs clinging to the metal. It’s a great site for divers who appreciate the character of a large wreck without extreme depths or currents.
