Elpida Wreck - Larnaca
The Elpida Wreck isn't just another sunken vessel; it's a purposefully sunk ferry, and that makes all the difference. Dropping onto her at 25m, you immediately appreciate the thought that went into her preparation. We love that the wreck is so intact, but with plenty of safe swim-throughs into the car deck and engine room – just wide enough for two divers sometimes. You can spend a good chunk of your bottom time finning through the cavernous interior, past steering columns and engine parts, imagining the journey she once made. Our favourite part is always the bridge. You can still see the helm and the control panels, now encrusted with sponges and home to scorpionfish peering from every crevice. Out on the deck, schools of damselfish flit around the railings, and we often spot moray eels tucked into the darker corners. It’s an intermediate dive, perfect for those comfortable with deeper dives and ready to explore a proper, substantial wreck without extreme currents. We’d suggest going early in the morning for the best light penetration into the deeper sections, creating some genuinely dramatic scenes.
