Zenobia Shipwreck - Larnaca

The Zenobia isn’t just a wreck, it’s a fully-fledged artificial reef that just happens to be a capsized ferry. We love how the Zenobia absolutely dominates the seabed off Larnaca. You drop onto the starboard side, the ship lying on its port, and the sheer scale of it hits you immediately. We’re talking about an entire upside-down city of steel. Our favourite dives here always involve exploring the upper car deck, where you can still make out the shapes of the trucks, some still chained down, others broken free and scattered. The light filters in through the windows and openings, creating these eerie, beautiful shafts as you fin through the massive spaces. You’ll often spot massive schools of silver-cheeked toadfish hanging in the open holds, watching you with their big, curious eyes. Down on the promenade deck, the black leather sponges are everywhere, softening the harsh lines of the metal. If you’re experienced and comfortable with penetration, venturing into the restaurant or bridge offers a whole new level of exploration, but always with a guide who knows the ship inside out. This wreck suits divers who appreciate history, scale, and a slightly haunting beauty.
