E Sette Nave (Ajaccio) - Corsica

E Sette Nave isn't the deepest wreck you’ll ever dive, but we think it’s one of the most charming in Corsica. Lying at a comfortable 20 metres, this is a perfect site for newer wreck divers or anyone who just wants a relaxed cruise around history. The ship itself is fairly broken up, more a collection of scattered ribs and plates than a grand hull, but that’s its appeal. It’s like an archaeological site, each piece telling a story as you drift over it. We love seeing how the Mediterranean has reclaimed this old girl. Schools of glinting damselfish dart amongst the metalwork, and you'll spot plenty of moray eels peeking out from beneath the larger sections. Look closely, and you’ll find nudibranchs crawling along the rusty edges. Our favourite part is the stern, where the rudder post still stands proud, encrusted in colourful sponges. It’s a gentle, contemplative dive, a real pleasure for photography, especially if you visit mid-morning when the sunlight filters through the shallow water.
