GALATIA - Corsica

The Galatia is a wreck we always recommend for divers looking for something a bit different in Corsica. She was a merchant ship, sunk in 1943 by a British submarine, and now rests upright on a sandy bottom at a very manageable 14 metres. This depth means you get fantastic bottom time, perfect for really soaking in the atmosphere. What we love about the Galatia is her accessibility. You can fin right through the holds, imagining the cargo she once carried. Light streams in from above, illuminating schools of chromis darting through the superstructure. It’s not a massive wreck, but the penetration options are a real treat, offering just enough enclosed space to feel like an explorer without being overly challenging. Around the hull, you'll often find scorpionfish camouflaged on the metal, and we’ve spotted moray eels peeking from crevices. It’s a site that tells a story, and you can feel that history as you glide over her decks. For anyone keen on a relaxed wreck dive with a good sense of history and some playful light, the Galatia is our pick.
