PAOLA TERZA - Corsica

The Paola Terza is one of our Corsican favourites. Down at 25 metres, this pleasure craft wreck is a real joy to explore, far more interesting than its simple classification suggests. We always love a wreck that’s settled upright, and the Paola Terza sits perfectly on the seabed, allowing for easy navigation through its cabins and deck areas. You can swim right into the wheelhouse, imagining the last moments of its journey before it became an artificial reef. What makes it special for us is the way the Mediterranean has embraced it. The wreck is absolutely carpeted in colourful gorgonians, and it's home to some surprisingly large groupers that eye you suspiciously from the shadows. Keep an eye out for moray eels poking their heads from every nook and cranny. It's not a dive for chasing big pelagics, but rather for soaking in the quiet beauty of a wreck reclaimed by the sea. We'd suggest going in the late afternoon; the light filtering through the clear water at that depth makes the gorgonians glow.
