Relitto di Pomonte - Corsica

The Relitto di Pomonte, or the Elviscot wreck as it's often called, isn't a deep dive, sitting shallow at 12 metres, but we find it utterly charming. This isn't some imposing behemoth, more like a friendly old dog of a wreck, broken into two main sections since it sank in 1972. You swim down, and the stern section is right there, surprisingly intact, with a distinct list to port. We love finning through the open holds, watching the light filter in and illuminate schools of damselfish that dart amongst the decaying metal. Visibility here is usually excellent, giving you clear views of the resident barracuda, often just hanging out, unbothered, near the bow section. The bow, a little further off, offers different angles and more nooks for moray eels to hide. Our favourite detail? The sheer density of red gorgonians that have found purchase on the wreck's structure, giving it a vibrant, almost painterly quality against the blue. It’s an easy, relaxing dive, perfect for beginners looking for their first proper wreck experience, or anyone who enjoys a leisurely poke around history with plenty of fish life. Go early in the morning to avoid the boat traffic, it makes a real difference to the quiet atmosphere.
