Why dive here
With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - Calafat offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
Calafat sits in a sheltered bay, making it a good spot when the Mistral wind picks up. We’ve found the maximum depth consistently around 10 meters, so it’s a nice long dive for intermediate divers looking for a relaxing hour underwater. You’ll weave through rock formations and keep an eye out for octopus tucked into crevices. It’s not the most dramatic site, but it’s a reliable option for a calm afternoon.
