Why dive here
With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - Cap Negre offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
Cap Negre offers a solid Mediterranean dive for those exploring the Calanques. We found a decent wall dive, dropping away into deeper water, which usually means some interesting rock formations to explore. It’s a good spot for a relaxed dive, suitable for divers comfortable with a bit of depth, perhaps looking for the typical Mediterranean nudibranchs and small schooling fish. Nothing groundbreaking, but a reliable choice for a pleasant afternoon in the water.
