INTREPIDE - Marseille & Calanques

Alright, the *Intrepide*. We've spent a fair bit of time on this one, and we really love it for a specific kind of dive. It's not deep, just sitting there at around 5 metres, which makes it perfect for longer bottom times and really soaking it all in. This is a small escort vessel, sunk during the war, and you can still make out the bow and stern sections quite clearly. You'll fin around the remains of the superstructure, which has been nicely colonised by sponges and some colourful anemones. Schools of juvenile damselfish often hover over the deck plates, and we’ve spotted moray eels tucked into the darker crevices. It’s a great site for photographers who want to play with natural light filtering through the shallow water. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light is softer, and you often have the place to yourselves before the afternoon boat traffic picks up. It's a gentle, reflective dive, good for new divers getting their first wreck experience, or anyone who just wants a relaxed exploration of a piece of history.
