L Erevine - Marseille & Calanques

L'Erevine, she's a beauty. Tucked into the Planier archipelago, this is one of our favourite wreck dives in the whole Calanques area. Dropping down, you hit the bow first, often surrounded by curious barracuda. The wreck sits upright, remarkably intact for a ship that met its end so violently in 1944. We love exploring the bridge, the hold, and even the engine room – penetration is fairly straightforward here, making it ideal for those getting into wreck diving, or just wanting a good poke around a piece of history. Her hull is now a thriving apartment block for conger eels, moray eels, and we often spot scorpionfish camouflaged on the deck plates. The light here can be incredible, shafts piercing through the blue, illuminating schools of chromis darting over the superstructure. It's a dive that really makes you feel the history, but also appreciate how quickly nature reclaims things. We’d suggest going early to avoid the busiest boat traffic, especially in summer.
