Why dive here
With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - L escalette offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
L'Escalette offers a relaxed dive along the shore just outside Marseille. The shallow rock formations are home to nudibranchs and small crabs, with schools of damselfish flitting through the seagrass beds. It's a straightforward spot, ideal for a shore dive or a check-out dive when the Mistral isn't blowing too hard. We find it’s a good choice for newer divers looking for an easy entry into the local scene.
