Why dive here
With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - La plaine offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
La Plaine offers a relaxed dive in the Calanques, a good spot for when the Mistral wind kicks up and other sites are unworkable. Expect depths around 15-20 metres, with some interesting rock formations and a decent chance of seeing octopuses tucked into crevices. It’s a solid choice for less experienced divers or those looking for a chilled-out second dive.
