With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - Le Barancan offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
Le Barancan sits just off the coast near Marseille, a reliable spot for a relaxed dive. We’ve found decent visibility here, often around 15 metres, revealing a slope that gives way to a rocky reef. It’s a good choice for newer divers or those looking for a couple of easy dives, though don't expect big pelagics. You’ll typically see moray eels tucked into crevices, small schools of ornate wrasse, and various nudibranchs if you look closely.
