With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - Le Jardin de gorgones offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest reef diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
Le Jardin de gorgones, or "The Garden of Gorgonians," does exactly what it says on the tin. This site in the Calanques delivers a dense covering of red gorgonians clinging to the walls, creating a dramatic backdrop for a drift dive. We've found the best of it at around 20 metres, where the light plays nicely through the fronds. It's a solid choice for macro photographers and those who appreciate the slower pace of a reef exploration.
