LE ROBUSTE II - Marseille & Calanques

Le Robuste II sits upright, a barge vessel that went down in 1993, just outside the bay. It’s a great choice when the mistral picks up and other sites are too exposed. At 23 metres, it’s a comfortable dive, and the wreck itself is surprisingly photogenic. We love the way sunlight filters through the superstructure, dappling the hold where grouper often lurk. It's classified as 'dangerous,' which is a bit of an exaggeration these days, but it means you'll still find some fascinating, twisted metal and sharp edges – definitely keep your buoyancy dialled in. We've spent many a dive here circling the main deck, spotting moray eels peering from crevices and clouds of damselfish flitting through the beams. The sheer volume of nudibranchs on the hull never fails to impress us; our favourite is the flabellina lineata, with its delicate white cerata. This site is perfect for those who enjoy a solid wreck dive without the pressure of extreme depth or current. Just be mindful of local boat traffic on ascent, especially during summer weekends.
