With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - Plage de Marina offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest shore diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
Plage de Marina is a decent spot to get your fins wet, especially if you’re just starting out or haven’t dived in a while. At a comfortable 11m, it's shallow and usually pretty calm, making it ideal for checking your buoyancy or shaking off the rust. You’ll typically see small Mediterranean wrasse darting between rocks, maybe a shy octopus tucked into a crevice, and often schools of damselfish reflecting the sunlight. It’s certainly not a drift dive or a wall full of pelagics, but for a relaxed afternoon exploring the local shallows, we find it hits the mark.
