Why dive here
With 157+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, dolphins, dwarf minke whales, humpback whales and mobula rays (devil rays) - Sec de Merlo offers some of Marseille & Calanques's richest diving. Water ranges 14-25°C, warmest July, August, September.
Sec de Merlo offers a relaxed dive in the Calanques, often chosen when the Mistral wind kicks up. You’ll find a gently sloping reef, with gorgonian fans starting around 15 metres. Keep an eye out for octopus tucked into crevices and small schools of damselfish. It's a good spot for a second dive or for divers getting comfortable with the local conditions.
