    StandoutExceptional marine biodiversity

The Batavia, lying off Marseille, offers a solid wreck dive without being overly dramatic. It’s a cargo ship, fairly intact, that came to rest on its side, providing some interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. Expect to see the usual Mediterranean suspects – schools of damselfish flitting around the superstructure, the occasional scorpionfish tucked into a crevice, and some larger groupers lurking deeper within the holds. It's a good spot for advanced open water divers looking to explore a decent-sized wreck that’s been submerged long enough for marine life to really settle in.

    Safety Notes

Wreck site - avoid penetration without wreck diving certification. Watch for sharp metal and entanglement hazards.
