CIHAN 7 - Alonissos Marine Park

We love Cihan 7 for its sheer scale and the way it sits so upright on the seabed, practically inviting you to explore. This tanker went down in 1991, but it feels older, like a true relic. Dropping onto the bridge at 20 metres, you can still make out the wheelhouse, now draped in orange gorgonians. Schools of damselfish shimmer around the superstructure, thick enough to momentarily obscure your buddy. We usually spend the first part of the dive just circling the bow, watching silversides dart between the broken mast and the deck. Our favourite spot has to be the cargo holds, open to the light, where you often find scorpionfish camouflaged amongst the rust. There’s a quiet beauty to this wreck, a calm stillness that makes it perfect for photographers or anyone who enjoys a peaceful poke around history. It’s an easy dive, suitable for Open Water divers, and a fantastic contrast to the park’s natural reefs.
