KOUTOURIARIS S - Alonissos Marine Park

Koutouriaris S. is a standout for us in the Alonissos Marine Park, especially if you’re a fan of wrecks that feel genuinely *there*, not just a pile of rubble. This isn't some ancient, broken-up hull; the trawler sank in 1992, and she's still very much a ship. We love dropping down and seeing her upright on the seabed, almost 52 metres long, with the mast still reaching towards the surface. The sheer scale of her is impressive; we often spend the whole dive just exploring the deck, looking into the wheelhouse, and imagining her final moments. Schools of damselfish shimmer around the superstructure, and we’ve spotted moray eels peeking out from the darker corners of the hold. Our favourite is swimming along the bow, feeling the cooler water as you pass, and noticing the soft corals starting to bloom on the railings. It’s a site that really makes you feel like an underwater explorer, and it’s surprisingly approachable for most divers, though a little experience with wreck diving helps you appreciate the character.
