UZ RUZGOR - Alonissos Marine Park

Uz Ruzgor isn't your typical deep, intact wreck. It’s a shipwreck scattered across a shallow reef system, which we actually prefer for photography. The motor vessel went down in 1980, breaking up on the rocky coastline near Akra Makara. What’s left is a fascinating debris field, starting at just 10 metres. You’ll find twisted metal plates, machinery parts, and sections of the hull all interspersed with the natural rock formations. We love that this site feels more like an archaeological dive than just a wreck dive. The pieces are slowly being absorbed by the reef, becoming new homes for octopus, moray eels, and schools of damselfish. Look closely in the crevices and under the larger plates for nudibranchs – they’re often overlooked here. Visibility is usually excellent, making it easy to appreciate the scale of the wreckage. It’s a genuinely relaxing dive, perfect for those who want to spend time exploring without worrying about depth or deco. Bring a torch, even in the shallows, to peer into the darker corners and bring out the colours.
