Dolphin Diving Center - Halkidiki

We’ve dipped fins in Halkidiki a few times, and honestly, many of the local sites are, well, pleasant. Good for a relaxed afternoon, but not exactly sending postcards home. Dolphin Diving Center, though, offers something a bit different. It’s got a genuine edge, mainly because of the sheer density of those smaller, often overlooked critters. When you drop in, keep your eyes peeled for the bottom. We love scanning the rocks and sand for things like the Aegean Tube Worms – they’re surprisingly striking when you spot a cluster. Our favorite, though, has to be hunting for the Mediterranean Tooth-footed Snapping Shrimp. You usually hear them before you see them, a faint clicking that gives them away. It’s not about big pelagics here; it's about getting close and appreciating the microfauna. The various sponges, like the black leather and Variable Loggerhead, create some interesting textures for them to hide in. It’s a site that rewards slow diving, really taking your time. Forget flying through a swim-through; here you’re hovering, looking under ledges, and admiring the delicate dance of a Shore Feather Duster Worm. This spot is perfect for photographers who love macro work, or anyone who enjoys the quiet thrill of discovery over adrenaline. It's an easy dive, often with calm conditions, making it a great place to hone those observation skills.
